Gala 2011 - Report
From Friday evening until fifteen minutes prior to the start of the parade, Ingleton experienced torrential rain. Volunteers forged on determined for the show to go on, and thankfully, on gala day from 12 noon until 6.30pm proceedings were pretty much rain free and the sun even made an appearance from 2.30pm.
Batala Lancaster provided a rousing samba drumming rhythm for the parade participants and onlookers. They also provided displays in the main ring and a workshop for those interested in learning more about their skills and perhaps wanting to join the group.
The Gala Queen, Georgia Tazzyman and her entourage looked resplendent and smiled and waved as they braved the elements. It was clear to see the amount of work that had gone into putting their beautifully decorated float together.
Events were enjoyed by all. Particularly well received were the bike displays provided by the Trials Display team of Ben Slinger and Danny Butler. Ben and Dan have held British, European and World Championships in their sport, and as well as exhibiting tremendous skill and accuracy their commentary was informative and entertaining.
There were three races during the afternoon, as part of the annual Ingleborough Mountain race. The results are available on the home page and Mountain Race pages of the Gala’s website.
Fancy dress results were as follows:

1st Jolly Roger
2nd Ingleton Playgroup

Results from the Imaginations Marquee:
The Imaginations Marquee at Ingleton Gala was a new initiative brought to the Gala by Ingleton resident Margaret Stephenson.
These are the post event results:
Imaginations are grateful to Mr G Sudell and Mrs E Craven for accepting the difficult task of choosing first, second and third places between the many entries displayed in the Marquee on the 16 July. With difficulty (the standard of entries was high) they chose the entries of the following children as winners, this means they either came first, second or third in the categories they chose to enter.
Jack Bickerstaff, Age 3.5 yrs
Grace Cockett, Age 4 yrs
Hope Browne, Age 5 yrs
Alfie Falkner, Age 6 yrs
Elliot Browne, Age 6 yrs
Tommy Cockett, Age 7 yrs
Kian Falkner, Age 8 yrs
Oscar Stephenson-Wright, Age 8 yrs
Dylan Stephenson-Wright, Age 10 yrs
Ben Marsh, Age 13 yrs
Dylan Stephenson-Wright’s entry, ‘Insect from Junk’ was chosen as best in the show.
Winning entries are displayed in Neptis’s window for everyone to view.
Imaginations thank all children who entered the competition and Ingleton for supporting this venture.
